This comprehensive presentation is designed to educate supervisors, HR professionals, and safety officers on the critical procedures and best practices related to workplace injuries. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of workers' compensation and the experience modification rate, including what it covers, how it affects premiums and how it protects both employees and employers. The presentation will walk through the resources available to employers, such as medical care coordination, and legal rights.
A detailed section will cover how to properly complete an accident/incident investigation, emphasizing the importance of timely, factual documentation and root cause analysis to prevent future incidents. We will also highlight the importance of the First Report of Injury (FROI) and how it ties into OSHA 300 logs, with guidance on maintaining compliance and using these records to identify trends in workplace safety.
Finally, the presentation will explain how to effectively utilize a return-to-work (RTW) policy, including modified duties and transitional work programs that support the injured employee’s recovery while minimizing lost time and improving morale.

Alyssa Germaine has been an Accident Prevention Consultant for TRICOR Safety Consulting since 2003. Alyssa earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Safety from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She has developed a multitude of safety programs including workers compensation programs, injury and illness prevention, accident investigation, OSHA compliance and more. She also conducts employee safety training in a wide variety of topics and industries including school districts, municipalities, manufacturing and health care facilities.
